It's that time of the year again: recap season.

Ages ago, recap season meant we would have to individually compile our top 9 photos and squeeze them all into one picture for our Instagram grid. Now, Instagram is offering a new option — a Reels template for users to create their 2022 Recap and share it with their friends. It's a fairly painless process.

1. Create a Reel

There are plenty of ways to go about creating a Reel, but I like to click the Reels button in the middle of the bottom of the home screen between the search and shopping buttons. Then, click the photo icon at the top right of the screen.

2. Choose your template

Once you're creating a Reel, swipe to the right on the bottom of your screen. This will bring you to templates. Here, there are four options for narrations: artist and producer Bad Bunny, DJ & producer DJ Khaled, rapper and producer Badshah, or Stranger Things star Priah Ferguson.

3. Create your 2022 recap Reel

Once you've chosen your template, you'll replace the clips with clips from your own library. The easiest way to do this — if you want to post videos instead of photos — is to click the arrow next to "Recents" while you choose your images and choose "videos." This will narrow down your options to videos only.

4. Post the Reel

After you select your images and videos, your Reel will be automatically edited into a 2022 recap. All you have to do after you choose your videos is to share your Reel! You can edit the cover, write a little message, or post as is.
